AC/DC: Spanish Shows Sell Out In Under Four Hours
October 21, 2008According to Sergi Ramos of The Metal Circus, tickets to AC/DC's two Spanish shows as part of the band's upcoming "Black Ice" world tour sold out within four hours after they went on sale this morning. The concerts — March 31 in Barcelona (capacity 17,500) and April 2 in Madrid (capacity: 16,000) — are the only scheduled performances in Spain for AC/DC in 2009, a spokesperson for Live Nation told The Metal Circus. When asked about a possible stadium tour in the works for next summer, the spokesperson replied, "It might happen, but nothing has yet been confirmed."
Fans are indignant about the situation. Jaume Barnils, a lifelong AC/DC devotee, tried all morning with no luck to get tickets through friends who were in touch with the usual ticket outlets while he was at his job. "Now a lot of people who don't care about AC/DC will go to the show and I won't," he said. "I've seen them every time, even without Malcolm Young when they played Paris in 1988."
The usual auction sites were already re-selling tickets by mid-afternoon, some charging as much as 487 euros a pair. "I would pay 400 euros if I had the money," Barnils added. "But I think I would not enjoy the show. That's not the essence of rock and roll."
